ChemiByte collects certain information to provide a personalized and secure chemistry-learning experience. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, encrypted password, your educational background, and the chemistry topics you’re interested in. As you use ChemiByte, we also collect information about the lessons you read, the diagrams you download, your quiz scores, how much time you spend on each topic, and the areas where you may need more help. Additionally, we automatically receive information such as your device type, browser type, general location based on your IP address (not precise), and the time you visit ChemiByte.
We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, track the topics you study, and recommend relevant chemistry materials. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features may not work properly. The information we collect helps us personalize your learning experience, recommend lessons, improve our content, identify and fix technical issues, send updates, and keep your account secure.
We do not sell your personal information, quiz scores, or educational data. We do not use your information for targeted advertising, nor do we share your data with advertisers or unrelated third parties. Your information is shared only with your teacher if you are part of a ChemiByte class, your school if needed for learning purposes, and trusted service providers who help us with hosting, analytics, and email functions.
For students, your educational data is protected under FERPA. Your quiz scores are private, visible only to you and your teacher (if you are in a class). Your parents or guardians can request access to your data or request deletion if necessary. We protect all user data through encryption, secure servers, strong password systems, limited employee access, and regular security checks.
We retain your account information while your account is active and for one year after deletion. Learning-related data, such as quizzes and progress, is stored for three to seven years to meet educational requirements. Cookies remain on your device until you clear them or until they expire. You may request the deletion of your data at any time.
You have the right to access your personal data, download your quiz history, update your information, delete your account, opt out of marketing emails, and limit certain uses of your data. You can contact us at privacy@chemibyte.com to exercise any of these rights. ChemiByte is not intended for children under 13. Users aged 13 to 18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian, and their parents have the right to request access or deletion of learning records.
We may send emails about new chemistry lessons, topics you’re studying, platform updates, and educational content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the “unsubscribe” link or by updating your preferences. ChemiByte may contain links to other educational websites, but we are not responsible for their privacy practices or content.
If you use ChemiByte from outside the United States, your data may be stored in different countries, and different privacy laws may apply. We comply with GDPR and other international privacy standards to protect your data. We may update this privacy policy at any time, and continued use of ChemiByte after updates means that you accept the revised policy.
If you have any questions or requests regarding your privacy or data, you may contact us at chemibyte.rk@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
